ABOUT
Founder & Baker: Skylar Harris
Why the name?
My father has always called me his “Sunny Sky”. When I bake, I feel bliss and comfort. Each product I bake is a reflection of the name and state of mind. Ever since I could walk, I have been helping alongside my mother and grandmothers in the kitchen. Around the age of 11, I started Sunny Sky’s Foods, baking for family and friends. People loved the result and orders started pouring in. By middle school, I was baking for birthday parties, teachers, and the general community.

As a self-taught baker, I learned to bake through countless hours on Youtube, old cookbooks, and family recipes. This early love has blossomed into more professional training where I have studied sophisticated techniques and the actual chemistry behind the ingredients I use. I have been blessed to travel and see what baking looks like all around the world. Through baking, I have explored my academic interests in science, business, and global studies by making international dishes.

One of my proudest accomplishments so far is baking and decorating a multi-tiered, gluten-free wedding cake for my uncle and aunt’s wedding in Hawaii. That experience gave me great confidence to expand my business and continue to become an accomplished baker. The kitchen is where I first learned to love science and chemistry, and it is also a wonderful gathering place where I can express myself through different flavors, spices, and decorations.
